Old Dubbo Gaol

Step back in time at the state heritage listed, Old Dubbo Goal. The goal was in operation for 119 years from 1847 to 1966 and today brings history back to life. Wander through the collection of historic buildings and artefacts, listen to how life was for a prisoner, experience a twilight ghost tour or watch the theatrical performances in school holidays and take part in a guided tour.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo

Be immersed by the majestic exotic species in this open range exhibit in the heart of NSW Central Tablelands, just outside Dubbo. The zoo is home to hundreds of rare and endangered animals including giraffes, rhinos, elephants and big cats. If you are looking for a real zoofari, hire a bike or electric cart to explore the Zoo’s 5.3km circuit track from a different angle.

Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre

Make a splash and cool off at this centre designed for fun in the sun. Facilities include heated Olympic swimming pool, shaded children’s leisure pool, playground, giant twin waterslides, BBQs, seating area and kiosk. Located in the centre of town, it’s convenient location makes for the ideal place for family fun.

Dubbo Regional Botanic Gardens

Enliven your senses in this stunning garden that began in 1999. Explore the Shoyoen or ‘strolling’ garden, an authentic Japanese garden with traditional vegetation with religious and cultural references, gifted to the region from Dubbo’s sister city Minokamo. Discover the native plant communities of the region in the Biodiversity Garden or awaken your body in the Sensory Garden. The Oasis Valley is a new component to the area which displays dry rainforest species and show how local bushland species have evolved.

Western Plains Cultural Centre

This multi-purpose venue is home to the regional gallery, Dubbo museum and a café, claiming its place as the creative soul of the region. Experience high-quality exhibitions and artwork from local artists. The centre can cater to a range of groups such as morning teas, weddings and parties. Open 7 days a week and free admission, this is a must see.

Dubbo Farmers Markets

This bi monthly market attracts over 2000 people who travel near and far to get their fresh produce from one of the 60 stallholders. Held on the lawn of Macquarie Lions Park on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month, these markets have fast grown to be one of Dubbo’s leading regional events
